Aveda versus Kérastase

I have this thing for my hair, I am mental about trying to take care of it, but I am not a big fan of going to the hairdresser- which I know is a predicament. I do think I have it from my mother though, she used to be so particular about taking care of my hair as a kid (thanks mom).
For 2017 one of my resolution was to have ‘a year of beauty’ in which I pledged to go to the hairdresser once a month- that has never happened before in my life. But ever since I came to Italy my hair has become more unruly and dry so I figured now is the time to step up to the plate.
I finally found a great hair salon in Varese, and that itself is a huge task for someone with naturally fine, blond hair whereas here they are used to this lovely thick dark hair. So, my biggest worry was that any kind of treatment would be too harsh on my already rather damaged hair.
I found a place, an Aveda salon, and Aveda was recommended by my friend C way back when, since they apparently use very gentle and good treatments. I actually (yes, to my surprise) have been very diligent to go every month, not every time getting highlights done, but getting a cut or a wash if not.
As a good customer I listened to the hairdresser and bought some shampoo, conditioner, mask, in addition to the Marroccan Oil I swear by (tried coconut oil before, does nothing to my hair).
So I bought the series Damage Remedy for my hair (sorry for the rather tortured bottles...)

I have now used it for several months and my hair is no better, even if I am very diligent of not washing my hair too often (two times a week), and always use the mask, try and airdry it as much as possible and so on.
Anyway, I used to use Kérastase products back home, but I just couldn’t find the complete series here- just bits and pieces of the one I like. However, yesterday was the day I found it- so I splurged on shampoo, conditioner, mask and leave-in conditioner/heat protector. I hope, hope, hope my hair can regain its former greatness and that it is not the water (with all the chalk in it) that is ruining my hair.
